507.3 University Photographer

A. Background

The University has a continuing demand for high quality photographic services. The Marketing and Public Relations Office employs a photographer to provide these services whenever possible and at a reasonable cost.

B. Policy

Requests for all photography services should be made to the Marketing and Public Relations Office which will make the appropriate arrangements with the photographer to do the requested work. Marketing and Public Relations will bill the requesting departments for the photographer's work. Charges for the University photographer's services will usually be considerably lower than commercial rates.

C. Guidelines

1. If the Marketing and Public Relations Office cannot provide the requested photography services, a prompt notice is to be given to the requesting person with a release to obtain the services elsewhere.

2. Requests for photography services should be made to the Marketing and Public Relations Office as soon as possible, for example, a week in advance for daytime work, two weeks for nighttime work, and a month for major photography projects.

3. When requesting photography, individuals should indicate the type, size, number of prints required, use, etc., of the pictures or slides so the photographer can be adequately prepared for the assignment.

4. The Marketing and Public Relations Office will establish and distribute a schedule of charges so budget unit heads can plan the most effective expenditure of their funds.

5. The requesting department and the photographer are to keep the number of exposures and prints at the minimum appropriate level.
